This actual historical account is much more than the story of a prophet being swallowed by a whale. It is about God’s love for a people who do not appear to be seeking him, but are.  It is about a prophet who resists God, and brings unhappiness on himself. We learn that God will even use creatures and nature in miraculous ways urge us to do his will. We should learn that it is unwise to miss the opportunities that God gives us to serve him.
